Why get a garden designer when I could do it myself, or a landscaper could do me a rough design?

I am often asked this question. As a professional designer, I have years of experience in what works, what has the most visual impact, and what will be easiest to maintain. I have experience in designing many different styles of gardens, from native, to modern/minimalist, to cottage gardens, and formal gardens etc. I take the time to find out what YOU want out of your garden and create the best design for you. Simply due to the nature of the different jobs, landscapers don't often have the time or design background to sit down a number of times with you to make sure you are getting exactly what you want. At a much simpler level, having a garden design plan enables you to compare quotes from landscapers on exactly the same thing. Quite often landscapers prefer to work from a pre-designed plan!
